Since the program’s inception in 2001, 172 skilled graduate students have served nearly 80 public and nonprofit organizations in the Lehigh Valley through the Community Fellows Program.

Lehigh County Men’s Community Correction Center

Lauren is a Community Fellow with theLehigh County Men’s Community Correction Center, a facility that houses work release participants in the Lehigh Valley. This program allows individuals to secure work prior to release, assisting them in paying their bills while encouraging strong work ethic. Lauren is involved with many aspects of the center specifically within the employment department. Some of her main responsibilities include collecting data for future grants, organizational programming, and project management relating to needs of the facility. Her first two projects included surveying all of the inmates to create a privilege system within the center and designing the curriculum for a new employment readiness class. This spring, Lauren will facilitate programming classes and acquire her own caseload to manage. Lauren is a M.A. candidate in Sociology.
