Laura Schmidt

Laura’s fellowship is split between The Nurture Nature Center (NNC) and Buy Fresh Buy Local (BFBL) Greater Lehigh Valley .  The organizations share similar goals of community building and raising awareness of environmental issues; NNC focuses on community need, while BFBL focuses on local food promotion. In the fall Laura gathered and analyzed pricing data from farmers’ markets and grocery stores for a report that is published on the BFBL website; she will spend more time on NNC work this spring and summer.  She assists both organizations with event planning and execution, develops and implements strategies to gather data from a full range of community members, and contributes to grant-writing. She also represents BFBL and NNC at public events, forums, and discussions. Laura is an M.A. candidate in Environmental Policy Design.
